Signs You Need Air Conditioning or Heating Repair

Is your home not feeling quite comfortable? Here are some signs that your HVAC system might need a repair:

  • Your Equipment is old:  It is great to have a system that lasts for many years. All air conditioner equipment has a lifespan. If yours is near the end, it is a good idea to get it checked out. Age is not always a reason to replace your equipment. Many times maintenance or a repair will take care of the issues at hand and prolong the need for a replacement.
  • High Power Bills: If your power bill is much higher than it should be or you discover your neighbors power bill is much less, it might mean your equipment is working too hard.
  • Temperature Troubles: Your air conditioner may not keep you cool or your heater may not be warming things up enough?

  • Humid in the house: If there is to much moisture in the air, it might mean your unit is not working properly. Also, if you walk into a cool house but start perspiring in the house even though it is cool, this is a problem as well.
  •  Short Cycling: Your equipment may be coming on for a short amount of time or, it may not come on. on its own.

  • Strange Sounds - Knock, Rattle Rattle, Squeal or Squeak: Are you hearing unusual noises coming from your HVAC system? Grinding, clanging, or loud whirring could indicate a problem. Noises coming from your equipment could be major or minor problems. Blower wheels or fan blades could be rubbing. Panels on the unit may be loose.
  • Water Leaks: Water leaking from your HVAC unit is never a good sign. Leaks can damage your floors, walls, or furniture. If you notice any leaks or moisture around your equipment, call for assistance.

  • Repair after Repair: Your heating and air equipment should not need multiple repairs through the year. This may be an indication of a larger problem. One way to prevent surprise repairs is to schedule biannual Tune-Ups. Tune-Ups help keep your equipment working properly and finds most problems before they start.
  • Low Air: You may notice there is a low amount or no air coming from your registers or vents.

  • Odd Smells: Odd smells could indicate failing components or standing water within your equipmen
